Xiaomi launched its Mi eBook reader in China in 2019 and the eReader has shown up on the Bluetooth Certification website (Bluetooth SIG) sporting Bluetooth 5.0. The Xiaomi eBook reader has features and specifications that have the potential to give the Kindle a run for its money. Since Xiaomi prices its products very competitively, this eBook reader could also be a cheaper alternative for those that want a Kindle but don't want to spend as much. The Xiaomi Mi eBook Reader sports a 6-inch HD e-ink display with a pixel density of 212ppi. To put things into perspective, the 10th Gen Kindle also has a 6-inch display with a pixel density of 167ppi whereas the Kindle Paperwhite has a 6-inch display with a pixel density of 300ppi. The Xiaomi Mi eBook reader supports 24 brightness presets to read in the dark. When it comes to formats supported, the eBook reader works with TXT, EPUD, PDF, DOC, XLS, PPT along with WPS and Microsoft Office content. Users can also import content from the cloud.

A 1800mAh battery with type-C charging powers the tablet. Under the hood, the Mi eBook reader is powered by a quad-core Allwinner B300 processor clocked at 1.8GHz. It has 1GB RAM and 16GB storage. The reader runs on Android 8.1 overlaid with a custom skin on top. It weighs a mere 178 grams. Running on Android, it isn’t clear if the device will support Google Books natively in the international market.
