Highlights: Three Samsung Galaxy S10 models get FCC certification. The list does not include the 5G variant. The listing suggests that the phone will come with reverse wireless charging tech.   Before a phone is launched, it is mandatory for a company to get a clearance certificate from different regulators in a country. Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S10 smartphones at an ‘Unpacked’ event in San Francisco on February 20, and now it received approval from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for all US variants of the Galaxy S10. Unlike previous flagships, the South Korean company won’t be announcing the flagship at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. According to the documents published, the FCC has approved phones with model numbers SM-G970U, SM-G973U and SM-G975U. These model numbers correspond to the Galaxy S10e or S10 Lite, the Galaxy S10 and the Galaxy S10+ respectively. For those who are unaware, Samsung launches its flagship devices with different mobile platforms in the US. While in Asian countries it uses an Exynos processor, in the US Samsung’s flagships are powered by Qualcomm SoCs. The FCC has also published a chart which shows that these handsets will support LTE on all major carriers. The filing also confirms that the phone will come with Bluetooth LE, NFC, MST and Wi-Fi 6. There are reports claiming that there will be a fourth variant with 5G capabilities and it will be available in limited markets like the US. The phone is expected to release later this year, and may appear on FCC at a later stage. Reports suggest that the 5G Galaxy S10 might be exclusive to Verizon in the US. The filing also also a document titled “Wireless Power Transfer”, which mentions that the Galaxy S10 can “receive or transmit an AC power signal through magnetic induction (MI) or magnetic resonance (MR).” Previously, a report said that some variants of the Samsung Galaxy S10 series may have a reverse wireless charging feature that can wirelessly charge other compatible devices like handsets and watches that have wireless charging support.
