Google Photos will no longer offer unlimited storage to any video format uploaded to its service. First spotted by Android Police, videos in unsupported formats will not take up storage space starting December 6, 2018. It should be noted that most common video formats such as .mpg, .mod, .mmv, .tod, .wmv, .asf, .avi, .divx, .mov, .m4v, .3gp, .3g2, .mp4, .m2t, .m2ts, .mts, and .mkv files are still supported and can be uploaded without them taking up space. However, file formats such as VOB or RAW video will now take up storage space. If user’s think that they have uploaded any unsupported videos to Google Photos, then can head over to this link and take a look. They then have the option of downloading the videos to their device and then deleting them from the service, thereby restoring some storage space. However, Google notes that Photos is currently experiencing issues with unsupported formats, and users may face some problems when trying to download some unsupported videos right now. Users who still want to upload large file formats like RAW may now have to opt for a Google One plan. Plans start at Rs 130/month for 100GB and goes up to Rs 19,500/month 30TB. Back in September this year, Google finally rolled out the Material Theme design to Google Photos. The version 4.0 of Google Photos brings layout design as well as a notable changes in functionality. User’s can now swipe up on any photo to see more information about it. Further, the Search Bar now offers rounded corners and icons have been changed to match the company’s larger Material Theme overhaul. The icons now wear a light coloured theme on a white translucent background.
